When a child shows symptoms of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, or elevated fever of 100 degrees, he or she will be isolated and parents are notified. Your child MUST remain symptom and fever free (without the use of Tylenol, Motrin, or any other fever reducers) for 24 HOURS prior to returning to school.
If your child should require a dosage of prescription or non-prescription medication during the day, parents needs to obtain and complete a medication authorization form which is available in the office. The Apple Tree Center staff are only allowed to dispense prescription medication or over the counter medication with written authorization from the parent AND the licensed health practitioner. A new Medication Authorization Form is required at the beginning of each 12 month period, for each individual medication, and anytime the dosage changes.
We are NOT a peanut free school. If your child has any food allergies, please submit written documentation from your child’s physician. We will make necessary accommodations in the classroom to ensure the safety of your child. In addition, food allergy signs will be posted in the emergency binder and food preparation areas.
In the case of inclement weather, the Center will announce a closing or late opening on WBAL (AM), WJZ T.V, email, face book, and on the Center’s answering machine. On days in which the Center may open late, it will usually open at 9:00AM.
The Center will be closed on the following holidays: New Years Eve and New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day
** Parents are still required to pay full tuition when a holiday falls on a weekday.
Positive Behavior Guidelines
We believe discipline shall include positive guidance, modeling, and redirection to another more appropriate activity, as well as setting clear cut limits that foster the child’s ability to become self disciplined. Behavior expectations shall be clear and understandable to the child, shall be consistent, and be explained to the child before and at the time of any disciplinary action. The goal is to teach children to be responsible for their actions which can be obtained by children having a clear understanding of right from wrong.
These forms must be completed for enrollment by health practitioner or parent:
